It’s no wonder that our children love making things so much. My husband has the compulsive craftiness gene too. This weekend, he made two leather handbags – one for me and one for our daughter. I love them both!
This is the bag he made first. And it’s mine. It’s the perfect size for sunglasses, a wallet, and a few other extras.I love the strip of leather that wraps around the whole thing and then snaps in the front. The double snaps make it adjustable, depending on how full I stuff it.
And this is the one he made for Taylor. The back panel, which folds over to snap, is a perfect circle. So I’m calling it The Circle Bag. He used snaps to make the strap adjustable. On its shortest setting, it fits Taylor perfectly now. On its longest setting, it fits me! His intention with that was to make this a bag that she can carry for years. I think I’ll use that feature to borrow it from time to time for myself.
Matthew has a small Etsy store where he sells leather bracelets and leather cuffs. He may add bags to the store at some point. But for now, I think it would be hard for me to let any of them go. I love bags! And I especially love raw, rugged leather bags.
