Warm Toes

I hadn’t crocheted a single thing since the sweater project didn’t work out. I’ve missed it a bit. It’s such a nice portable craft. Unlike sewing, which leaves me hunched over the desk way back in the bedroom, away from everyone.

I crocheted most of the first slipper while outside on the patio watching the kids play on the swings yesterday. Aren’t they cute? I’m apparently on a pink kick this week.

I used a tutorial by Zoom Yummy for my pattern. If you’re going to make these, I have a few recommendations. First, try them on during the toe construction. I didn’t need as many rows as were suggested (probably due to my hook size). And if you modify the pattern as you go on the first slipper, MAKE NOTES! I didn’t do that the first time I attempted these, and it was impossible to get the second pair to match. These match wonderfully, thanks to notes. Oh, and also stitch markers. Yep, as you go around and around in a spiral, if you don’t use a marker, you’ll have no idea how many rows you’ve completed.

I followed all my own tips on this pair, and I love them. I also cut insoles out of felt, which I need to sew in place. The insoles are a pretty critical addition if you’re going to walk around the house in them on hardwood floors. The crochet bumps hurt my feet otherwise.

They were so quick to crochet. I think each slipper took under an hour. I love a project I can finish in one evening and wear to bed. :)

Wow, you are an incredible store of great projects! So happy to have found your blog :) I love your description of being unemployed and choosing to stay that way- I left my former job on purpose to me a SAHM and through the ups and downs, I still agree- it’s really the best! Hope you have a great rest of the week :)
