I’ve found quite a few treasures at ReStore lately. First, there’s the brass light I redid to a barn style yellow ceiling light. While I was there shopping for lights, I saw this little shelf. It was sturdy, and a pretty good deal at $15. But it had these awful little country house bookends. I wiggled one, thought it might come off, but still left it there. I didn’t even take a picture with my iPhone. But that night, I kept thinking about that little shelf, and how cute it could look in Jacob’s room with a little red paint.
I went back the next day, and luckily it was still there. I snapped a photo of the house shaped bookends to share here on the blog, and then I removed them and donated them back to ReStore.
The stained wood still had a country vibe to it, which actually looks better in these photos than I thought it did in person. But with some red semi-gloss paint that I already had on hand from painting the door, I now love it. I’m so glad I didn’t let those weird houses keep me from bringing it home.
