New Headboard Inspiration

This morning, I’ve been sipping coffee and catching up on TV via Hulu. I’m a big fan of the new show Go On, with Matthew Perry (aka Chandler). If you haven’t watched it yet, you should. He’s still hilarious.

Anyway, watching that show today, I noticed the coolest headboard. It took a few rewinds, but I finally got a screenshot of it. Not the most flattering shot of Mr. Perry, but it’s a good view of the design.

Lately, I’ve been feeling the need to incorporate some really natural textures and materials into the decor. I still love color and spray paint, of course. But I’ve been thinking an aged wooden headboard could be cool. Or, now that I’ve seen this one, maybe rope.

What do you think? I’m pretty sure that I could do this using the same canvas stretcher bars that I’m currently using for the headboard. Rope that thick should be able to be attached to the back with a staple gun.

I would need to find rope that isn’t too scratchy, since it’s something we would be leaning back against. Then there’s the issue of actually weaving it. It would be time consuming, but surely doable.

I’m going to look at the fabric store for a solid color to match the curtains, as a possible headboard re-cover. But if that doesn’t work out, since the fabric selection locally is so limited, I may try to duplicate this headboard.
