Buyer's Guide

Buyer's guide: Heavy Duty Sewing Machines

Heavy Duty sewing machines are used in factories and other industries that need them to work long hours. They are great for sewing canvas, denim, and other heavy materials.

These sewing machines are made from a sturdy metal frame. It provides stability, strength, and long-term durability.

The Size and Weight

Heavy-duty sewing machines can weigh more than the average machine for home use. These machines can be as heavy as 100 pounds (50kg), but portable models are available.

Heavy-duty sewing machines can be heavy for many reasons. They cannot be moved. They can be mounted permanently to a table and will remain there for many years. This is not the machine you would bring to class or to your neighbors' house occasionally.

These are often twice the size of your home sewing machine. The reason is that the free arm can do more projects and hold more fabric (fabric).

You will need enough space to store the lightweight and portable models.

How it's constructed

The construction of your home sewing machine is one piece. However, a heavy-duty sewing machine can be made up of three parts.

  1. Head
  2. The motor
  3. The table

This information is essential before you begin shopping for an industrial sewing device. Make sure you get all three components included in your price quote.

This is a major advantage because each component can be easily changed individually. You may want to upgrade your clutch motor to a stronger servo motor, or you might need a larger table. The part can be removed and replaced.

For heavy-duty models, a different foot pedal is used. This foot pedal is intended to make it easier to use your feet and to help you save time. All of these operations can be done with your feet.

  • Trimming thread
  • Lifting your feet (we are referring to the metal object under the needle).
  • This machine can be used in the same manner as your home computer.

Threading

Most machines can be threaded immediately upon arrival. If you're purchasing a second-hand machine, ask the seller to thread it.

For more information on the channel setup, it's a good idea to consult the manual.

The bobbin can be threaded the same way as the home sewing machine. It may also be mounted outside the machine. It depends on the machine that you use. Most heavy-duty machines can thread the bobbin easily.

There are two minor differences in the area surrounding the needle:

  1. For heavy-duty models, you will need to insert the thread through its eye from the left side. Always sew from the front when using your regular sewing machine.
  2. You will also notice that the needles are slightly different. Your home sewing machine's needle will be flat on its shaft (the top). The needles of heavy-duty models are perfectly round.

Speed

Another difference between home sewing machines and heavy-duty models is the motor.

The motor is larger and stronger, so you can sew faster. Built to last many hours, the industrial models are durable. If you can sit down and sew every day, you will be able to do amazing projects.

If your machine is equipped with a clutch motor, you will not be able to move as fast as a home sewing machine. To do this, you will need a servomotor on your model.

If you don't wish to replace your clutch motor, a speed reducer is possible. This will allow for slower swing speeds and ensure perfect stitches every time. Another belt may be needed.
